For over 75 years, OCU has been a community-based, member-owned and governed organization that has proudly supported the community and various community events through direct participation and donations. In keeping up with the growth of the community and its financial and service needs, OCU is constantly changing and improving. Not only have we continued to support the community of Osoyoos, but we strive to support communities across the Southern Okanagan, such as Rock Creek.
Supporting Our Communities: Rock Creek
Our Rock Creek branch was the first of its kind for OCU and was created with the intention of serving our members in the area. Referred to as our ‘Rock Creek Model’, this branch came to fruition through the collaboration between OCU and non-profits in the area. Through the creation of a co-op, we were able to buy the land, build a building and open a location collectively.
Open two days a week with a financial advisor to help assist you with your financial needs, our Rock Creek location also contains an ATM and shared space, such as board rooms, that allow other groups and organizations to use the space. We also brought in high-speed internet, which was needed in the community. By bringing OCU to Rock Creek, we hope to continue to bolster financial literacy, as well as support the financial needs of communities across the South Okanagan.
