OCU Staff Raise $1,000 for Oncology Clinic

OCU Staff Raise $1,000 for Oncology Clinic

OCU is proud to announce that, thanks to the dedication and hard work of its staff, $923 was raised from the recent bake sale held during International Credit Union Day. OCU has topped up the amount, bringing the total to $1,000, which will be presented to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation to support the expansion of the Oncology Clinic at Penticton Regional Hospital.

The staff bake sale was motivated by a cause that hits close to home for many at OCU. Several employees have been personally affected by cancer and have benefited from the care provided locally. This initiative was their way of giving back to the healthcare services that have touched their lives and the lives of their loved ones. The team worked tirelessly to make this fundraiser a success, and they are proud to be able to contribute to such an important cause.

OCU will be presenting the cheque to the Foundation this Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Osoyoos branch.

“We’re incredibly proud of our staff for their hard work and the heart they put into this effort,” said Greg Sol, CEO of Osoyoos Credit Union. “International Credit Union Day is about celebrating the impact credit unions make in their communities, and our staff truly exemplified that by coming together to support the Oncology Department expansion.”

This isn’t the first time OCU has supported this vital local healthcare initiative. Last year, through its community giving program, OCU contributed $5,000 to the expansion. This year’s fundraiser, however, had a more personal focus, allowing staff and community members to make a direct impact through the bake sale and celebration.

Credit unions have a long history of putting community first, and Osoyoos Credit Union is proud to play a part in making a difference through both organizational support and staff-led initiatives. The entire team appreciates the community’s generosity during the bake sale and looks forward to presenting the funds raised at this week’s cheque presentation.
