OCU has prided itself in being a community-based, member-owned and governed organization. For over 75 years, OCU has proudly supported the community and several community events through either direct participation or donations. Due to the ever-growing nature of the community and its financial needs, OCU strives to continue to change and improve to better serve our members, not only in Osoyoos but in communities across the Southern Okanagan. Because of this, we are excited to announce that this summer, we will be coming to the community of Oliver!
Supporting Local Communities: Oliver
Like our Keremeos branch, the Oliver branch will be modelled after our Rock Creek Branch, which is centred around engaging with non-profits in the area and encourages shared space. We are excited to have signed a lease with Osoyoos Indian Band that will allow us to move into their old band office. With renovations starting soon, we are hopeful that we will have the Oliver branch up and running by Summer 2022. We will be sharing the space with both the Boys & Girls Club and Desert Sun Counselling.
The branch itself will be open two days a week and will contain both an ATM as well as an advisor who will be on-site to provide financial advice. By bringing our services to Oliver, we hope to not only support the community by providing space but also to bring our financial expertise. Financial literacy is incredibly important, and opening a branch in Oliver allows us to further support and help engage the community.
